Video: Annie Wickett Netted First Goal of Her UConn Women’s Soccer Career Sunday

Annie Wickett wasn’t even on the 22-man travel squad for the UConn Huskies women’s soccer team in 2014. In fact, she only saw action in one game last year.

But according to UConn women’s soccer head coach Len Tsantiris, Wickett worked very hard in the offseason and earned the starting job at left back.

During the season, Wickett had a few opportunities to score but could never get one past the opposing goalkeeper. That changed on in Sunday’s 5-0 win over the Siena Saints in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament when she scored on a shot from about 20 yards out.

After the game, Wickett along with her teammate Rachel Hill and Tsantiris talked about her first career goal.
