If the UConn Huskies women’s soccer team wants to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2015 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament, they are going to need a defensive effort like they got on Friday night vs the Notre Fighting Irish.
The UConn women’s soccer defense held strong all night and took advantage of their opportunities. Goalkeeper Emily Armstrong and the back four in front of her didn’t let anything past them.
Standing in their way of a quarterfinal game is the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who beat the Huskies 2-0 earlier in the season.

The prize for the UConn Huskies women’s soccer team beating the Siena Saints 5-0 to open the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament. They get to play the No. 3 seed, and former Big East rival, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the second round.
The good thing for the UConn women’s soccer team is that it will be played on a neutral field in Piscataway, NJ on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

The UConn Men’s Soccer team lives to play another game as they beat the BU Terriers 3-1 in front of 1,423 at Morrone Stadium in Storrs, CT.
They advance to the second round of the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament where they will face the Indiana Hoosiers at 12 p.m. on Sunday in Bloomington, IN.

Earlier this week, UConn Huskies men’s basketball sophomore Daniel Hamilton was named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List. The honor goes to the best college basketball player in America.
After Tuesday night’s win over New Hampshire, Hamilton and Rodney Purvis talked about the honor:

At 6’7″, UConn men’s basketball sophomore Daniel Hamilton has an advantage over shorter players who have to guard him. And when head coach Kevin Ollie has him bring the ball up, he uses that height as well as his passing ability to set up his teammates.
Through two games, Hamilton leads the team with 15 assists. After last night’s 85-66 win, New Hampshire head coach Bill Herrion compared to the great Magic Johnson.

At 5-5, the UConn Huskies football team has a chance to do something it hasn’t done since the 2010 season. And that’s become bowl eligible.
As UConn football coach Bob Diaco continues to build his program, getting bowl eligible can help the programs in many different ways.
With the last regular season game on November 28 at Temple, Diaco would be able to hold practices up until bowl bids are announced if the Huskies were bowl eligible. And if they made a bowl game, he would get another 15 practices as part of preparing for the game.
Extra practices like these would huge for a young team. And that’s not even mentioning recruiting.
Most importantly, it would be a great way to send the senior class off to the real world.
