UConn Football Depth Chart For Villanova Wildcats

Villanova Wildcats vs UConn Huskies

UConn football coach Bob Diaco has released his first depth chart of the 2015 season for Thursday night’s game against the Villanova Wildcats.

For the third straight season, the UConn Huskies will have someone different under center as Bryant Shirreffs has won the job. He’ll be backed up by Tim Boyle. At running back, Ron Johnson and Arkeel Newsome are listed in an “OR” situation and both will see a bulk of the carries.

This year, Diaco hasn’t listed the fullback position on the depth chart. Instead there is two tight ends in Tommy Myers and Alec Bloom.

Really no surprises on the defensive side of things with maybe the exception of Sean Marinan backing up Folorunso “Foley” Fatukasi at defensive tackle.

Bobby Puyol beat out freshman Michael Tarbutt for the placekicking duties. However, Diaco said that Tarbutt will take the longer field goals. He’ll also be the man to do the kickoffs.

Four true freshman made the two-deep as backups to start the season. They are Tyraiq Beals (WR), Chris Lee (TE), Zordan Holman (TE) and Matt Peart (LT).

We’ll get our first look at the team this afternoon but don’t expect much to be said or written about the practice.
