When the UConn Huskies kick off their 2015 football campaign on Thursday night against the Villanova Wildcats, it will be the 24th straight year that Connecticut football will be broadcast on its flagship station, WTIC AM-1080 in Hartford, the state’s only 50,000 watt AM station.
The 2015-16 football and men’s and women’s basketball season also marks the fourth year that the radio rights are held by IMG College, which is UConn’s multimedia rights partner.
Veteran UConn announcers Joe D’Ambrosio (play-by-play) and Wayne Norman (color commentary) return to call the action with Kevin Nathan on the sidelines.
UConn women’s basketball announcer Bob Joyce and former UConn Huskies QB Casey Cochran host the pregame show that begins 1 and 1/2 hours before the game.
