17 Former UConn Huskies on 2015 NFL Rosters

Saturday was cutdown day in the NFL and Sunday was the day where anybody cut could be picked up during waivers. For one of the former UConn Huskies trying to make it in the NFL, Sunday was a good day.

UConn Huskies in the NFLJordan Todman, who was cut by the Carolina Panthers on Saturday, was signed to the 53-man roster of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The Steelers also added former Husky Shakim Phillips to their practice squad after cutting him on Saturday.

The other 16 former UConn Huskies football players on active rosters are Tyvon Branch (Kansas City), Donald Brown (San Diego), Darius Butler (Indianapolis), Geremy Davis (New York Giants), Marcus Easley (Buffalo), Dwayne Gratz (Jacksonville), Ryan Griffin (Houston), Byron Jones (Dallas), Danny Lansanah (Tampa Bay), Sio Moore (Indianapolis), Dan Orlovsky (Detroit), Kendall Reyes (San Diego), Anthony Sherman (Kansas City), Shamar Stephen (Minnesota), Nick Williams (Atlanta), and Blidi Wreh-Wilson, (Tennessee).

Robert McClain didn’t survive the final cut with the New England Patriots and wasn’t signed today making him a free agent. The five year NFL veteran has 202 career tackles with the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Two other Huskies that aren’t on the 53-man rosters but are still with their respective teams are Will Beatty (NY Giants) and Yawin Smallwood (Tennessee).

Beatty was placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list and will miss the Giants first six games. Smallwood was placed on injured reserve by the Titans and will be out for the season.
