Video: UConn Women’s Basketball Team Shows Season Ticket Holders Practice Clap

This past weekend, season ticket holders for the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team were invited to watch the team practice and see what goes on.

After practice was over, UConn women’s basketball All-American Moriah Jefferson demonstrated with the rest of her teammates the clap that they do at the end of practice.

The UConn women’s basketball team will open up the 2015-16 season this Monday night in Columbus, OH against The Ohio State Buckeyes.

They’ll have their home opener on November 28, 2015 at the XL Center against the Kansas St. Wildcats. They won’t make their Gampel Pavilion debut until December 5 when they’ll host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a rematch of last year’s National Championship Game.

While it might be like pouring salt into the wounds of the Fighting Irish to celebrate last season’s national championship then, head coach Geno Auriemma didn’t want his charges to be distracted and opted to hold the ring ceremony and banner raising before last Sunday’s exhibition game vs Vanguard.

This allows the Huskies to officially close the book on the 2015 National Championship and concentrate on the task at hand, their fourth straight national championship.

Watch and/or listen below as Auriemma and Moriah Jefferson talk about getting the rings and raising the banner last weekend.

Video: UConn Women’s Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma Only Worried If Samuelson Stops Shooting

UConn Huskies women’s basketball freshman Katie Lou Samuelson didn’t have the best shooting preseason going 3-for-11 in each game.

Obviously there were some nerves in the first game. And in Sunday’s 80 point win over Vanguard, it could have been a combination of the bigger ball and longer three-point line with the experimental rules in place.

Either way, Samuelson isn’t worried. But even more importantly, head coach Geno Auriemma isn’t concerned either.

He’d actually be worried if Samuelson stopped shooting.

Experimental Rules in Play For UConn Huskies Women’s Basketball Today

When the UConn women’s basketball team takes the Gampel Pavilion court this afternoon, it may look a little different than we are used to seeing. The lane will be four feet wider going from 12 feet to 16 feet. Plus the three-point arc will be 22 feet one inch instead of the normal 20 feet […]

Video: UConn Women’s Basketball’s Breanna Stewart Offers Up Advice For Katie Lou Samuelson

Everyone is bound to struggle when they are freshman. Just ask UConn Huskies women’s basketball All-American Breanna Stewart that.

She struggled at times as a freshman and that’s too be expected. So what would she say to freshman Katie Lou Samuelson who struggled in the UConn women’s basketball exhibition opener on Monday night against Lubbock Christian.

Watch and/or listen below as Stewart offers Samuelson and the other freshman some advice.

Video: Nerves Got Better of UConn Women’s Basketball’s Katie Lou Samuelson in Exhibition Game

Exhibition game or not, it was the first time for Katie Lou Samuelson to don the UConn Huskies women’s basketball uniform in a game on Monday night against Lubbock Christian. So you definitely would expect there to be some nerves.

The nerves didn’t help her shooting as she started the game 0-for-7. Her first three-pointer went down in the third quarter and she would go on to finish with eight points.

Even with the nerves, she never gave up on shooting and continued to work hard throughout the game.

After the game, Samuelson along with her head coach Geno Auriemma talked about her nerves and struggles from the floor.
