UConn Hockey’s Evan Richardson Playing Best Hockey of His Career

Despite the fact that the UConn Huskies men’s hockey team is struggling right now after four straight losses, Evan Richardson has been playing his best hockey in his career according to head coach Mike Cavanaugh.

Hopefully, the Huskies can get things back on the winning track tonight when they take on the Army Black Knights at the XL Center. You can catch the game on WTIC 1080-AM.

With the 5-2 win over the Boston University Terriers on Tuesday night, the UConn hockey program, led by head coach Mike Cavanaugh, is 4-3-1 against Top 10 teams in two seasons of Hockey East play.

While Cavanaugh is happy with that, he’d rather that UConn hockey be known as a top 10 team year in and year out.

Video: UConn Hockey Freshmen Continue To Impress

UConn hockey coach Mike Cavanaugh doesn’t want to heap too much praise on his freshman just yet. They are after all just freshman playing in their third career game.

But you can’t help but notice that before this game, Max Letunov and Tage Thompson, both UConn hockey freshman were on top of the scoring list. Plus two other freshman, Miles Gendron and Joseph Masonius had a goal each.

The freshman class continued their scoring ways in Friday night’s 5-1 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils with five points. Letunov and Masonius both had two assists while Max Kalter added his first career game.

After the game, Cavanaugh talked about the freshman and their play through the first three games:
